What conferences will you attend in 2026 with Beman-related talks? Asking for Beman swag

What conferences will you attend in 2026 with Beman-related talks? Asking for Beman swag - WIP on my side to order swag soon.

NOTE: I want the community feedback, feel free to propose anything. I will consider all suggestions, but in the end, we’ll make a decision based on priorities and budgets. PLEASE GIVE YOUR SUGGESTIONS NO LATER THAN MONDAY, JANUARY 19, BEMAN SYNC, preferably sooner and here, but also will discuss this as the first topic in the next sync.

Updates:

  • I got 5k funding for the whole of 2026 and tried to find the best plan to spend this amount and bring the biggest reach for The Beman Project.
  • I will lead this initiative as both the Beman Communications Lead and a member of the Boost Foundation Board of Directors. Ofc, I want early community feedback, and I will get a final review and approval from the Project Leads.
  • This year, we will try new designs, new providers, new shipments, etc. We have a 1-year budget from the beginning, and we have previous experience.

Initial ideas I would propose:

  1. Get a list of conferences and Beman members who will do a Beman talk there (otherwise, it’s not a direct target conference). Here, we may probably consider a consistent chunk of swag (e.g., 15-20-30 T-shirts + 50-100 stickers; these are just examples, please do not comment about quantities or configuration yet). Note: We distributed many items at WG21 meetings in 2025; we already agreed (in a small circle) that WG21 meetings would not be a major target for our swag this year.
  2. Get a list of conferences and Beman members who will participate (without Beman-related activities) - depending on our final swag stocks, we may consider sending a small swag package there; e.g., supposing nobody from Beman is going to CppCon in 2026 to present Beman libraries, we can still use this opportunity to send stickers!.
  3. Depending on the collected target conferences and carrier persons, I may propose to do 2 similar orders (one in the US and one in Europe) to have a default split.
  4. I’m considering inspecting multiple providers (Temu, Aliexpress, Romanian providers, etc, US providers, etc.). The purpose is to not compromise quality, although most of them are “made in China”, and to find a cheaper way to avoid taxes and fees.
  5. Beman Swag item types. In 2025, we only had T-shirts () and stickers ( Website QR Code (see image) - #2 by neatudarius ; lately we got this QR code beman/images/qr/beman-qr.png at main · a4z/beman · GitHub - not printed). I definitely think we should have 1) lots of stickers (maybe multiple models) and 2) at least a few T-shirts.

I’m starting my analysis with this initial pool of conferences:

I’m starting my analysis with this initial pool of swag items:

  • Stickers
  • T-shirts
  • Umbrellas
  • Canes
  • Termos
  • Hats
  • Hoodies (may be expensive)

Looking forward to your proposals!

Best regards,

Darius

I’m suffering T-shirt fatigue so welcome something different. I like the idea of hoodies and beanies. Also mouse pads, long sleeve shirts, and chargers are interesting.

I agree with David regarding T-shirt fatigue. Hoodies and beanies would be cool. I usually attend CppCon every year and would be interested in helping with giving a talk if there’s a need.
